ASx running under the Linux operating system is a proven success

The general acceptance of the Linux operating system has gathered pace over the past couple of years, with the operating system now being found in many critical business areas. Projections that Linux servers will represent 45% of the server market by 2006 make it seems inevitable that many electronic payment solutions will be placed upon that operating system. The growth in Linux throughout the business community is largely agreed to be at the expense of Unix. However, the battle with Microsoft is expected to build in intensity over the next two or three years.

Linux must be a credible replacement technology option as it has already proven to be a choice that results in reduced IT costs. Standardization on Linux allows larger organizations to consolidate IT skill requirements and frees them to concentrate more on key business requirements than on specific application hardware and software environments. However, organizations looking to escape from legacy payment systems are likely to take their time and examine the reliability of Linux before making any choices.

Eps was quick to realize the importance of Linux and have already deployed ASx in production on a Linux server. In fact the combination of ASx, HotSync and Oracle, running under Linux, has proven to be both very cost-effective and reliable. ASx supports both vertical and horizontal scalability enabling both server replacement by more powerful hardware and/or additional servers to be placed in the ASx operating cluster. Full business contingency is facilitated using ASx HotSync, supporting both scheduled and unscheduled outages by any node in the ASx cluster.

ASx is more than ready for Linux, it's now proven on Linux. For more information on ASx for Linux, please contact
